Sung is a seasoned executive who is equally effective in both boardrooms and research labs. He led more than 60 major change initiatives at companies in financial services, defense, aerospace, energy, advanced materials, computers, software, machine tools, medical devices, and consumer packaged goods industries. He has a successful track record of identifying and building multi-million dollar businesses, including personally having launched more than 15 products and services whose combined revenue exceeded $300,000,000.
Sung is also an accomplished scientist. He is a holder of seven US patents and has published 34 original papers in peer-reviewed journals and industry periodicals. The mathematical model he developed to describe heat transfer in rapid-prototyping objects is still being referenced nearly 15 years after its original publication. He has received numerous industry awards, including the Outstanding Contributor Award by the International Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
Prior to co-founding Value Creation Institute, he was VP of Six Sigma Business Development at Citigroup, Executive Director of R&D at Johnson & Johnson, Principal with PRTM, a management consulting firm, and Director of Marketing at Motorola.
Sung holds an MBA from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA and M.S. and B.S. in Materials Science from the University of Washington. He is a certified Project Management Professional, Production and Inventory Manager, and Six Sigma Master Black Belt.
Sung was a collegiate tennis player and enjoys all types of sports. His goal in life is to serve as a good role model to young people, especially his two boys, Terence and Nathan.
