Senior Partner
Rich has over 18 years experience in statistical data analysis and has successfully applied his talents in product development, scientific research, and in financial services risk management. He is a founding member of Value Creation Institute where he has provided innovative mathematical models to answer customer's business risk inquiries quantitatively. Rich has been able to synthesize scientific models, such as microbiological sterilization, into business applications creating a new economic vision of the world based on expectation of events.
As a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Rich has trained, coached and mentored hundreds of associates at all levels of education and experience in the practice of Six Sigma. Rich's students, under his guidance, worked on business improvement projects resulting in reduced operation costs and growing the business market share. He was part of the Six Sigma team at Johnson & Johnson which contributed to over 5 Billion dollars in savings in a three year time frame. Also while at Johnson & Johnson, Rich provided the microbiology innovation to develop a new sterilization technology using a hydrogen peroxide plasma that has now become a standard in the health care industry resulting in a 1 Billion dollar business venture.
Leaving the health care industry, Rich joined Citigroup and was responsible for business process improvements for Enterprise Risk Management. There he applied his statistical Six Sigma expertise to design and improve business processes, such as underwriting and servicing, with embedded predictive knowledge. Not only was Rich instrumental in streamlining origination processes with over 40% improvements in cost and time, he was also able to deploy the importance of statistics to management. Armed with this knowledge, senior management was able to make determinations on the state of the current business and its future resulting in major business changes.
Recently, Rich gathered his knowledge and experience together and developed a data analysis method assessing product compatibility with customer circumstances and the risk associated with behaviors. This patent pending algorithm, called ValueScout, provides decision knowledge for default mitigation, successful product matches to customer needs, and a probabilistic outlook on revenues.
Rich holds an MBA from University College at the University of Maryland and B.S. in Biology from the University of Oregon. He is a Six Sigma Master Black Belt. He is a holder of three U.S. patents, two EU patents. Rich has contributed to numerous publications and presented at a number of scientific conferences. He is an avid golfer and enjoys the excitement of discovery using mathematical simulations.
